Oligomycin is a macrolide that acts as a specific inhibitor of the mitochondrial ATP-synthase and blocks oxidative phosphorylation. The compound is a mixture of isomers A ,B , and C .Cancer cell studies show that Oligomycin does not activate the hypoxia-induced factor, however, it enhances the bioenergetic adaptation of heterogeneous bioenergetically organized cells.
