红霉素A 9-肟是红霉素的半合成类似物，可克服酸性不稳定性和改善红霉素A的口服吸收，同时保留相当的抗菌和效力，因此是一种红霉素的半合成类似物。尽管未开发为商业产品，但红霉素肟在扩环的氮杂红霉素（如阿奇霉素）和肟醚（如罗红霉素）的开发中起着关键作用。

Erythromycin A 9-oxime is a semi-synthetic analogue of erythromycin prepared as means of overcoming acid lability and improving oral absorption of erythromycin A while retaining comparable antibacterial and potency. Although not developed as a commercial product, erythromycin oxime was pivotal in the development of the ring expanded aza-erythromycins (e.g. azithromycin) and the oxime ethers (e.g. roxithromycin).
