生物活性

Chromomycin A3 is an aureolic acid-type antitumor antibiotic. Chromomycin A3 forms dimeric complexes with divalent cations, such as Mg2+, which strongly binds to the GC rich sequence of DNA to inhibit DNA replication and transcription. Chromomycin A3 has a variety of utilities as a staining agent for human sperm chromatin, autophagy inducing agent, and apoptosis inhibitor[1].

Chromomycin A2 is a minor, more hydrophobic analogue of the chromomycin complex of the aureolic acid class. Chromomycin A2 was originally isolated from|S. aburaviensis|and named aburamycin. Chromomycin A2 exhibits a broad biological profile as an antibacterial, antifungal and antitumor agent. Chromomycin A2 has not been extensively studied.
